Job Description

Responsible for setting up test equipment and training production assemblers in test processes. Assist Quality Test Engineer and Quality Engineering Technician in their duties and responsibilities. Responsible for performing special testing for Quality Department as needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining and improving the test area; assure personnel are trained in the proper use of test equipment
    • Set-up electrical tests for production personnel, resolve any testing issues involving test equipment or fixtures
    • Train production personnel in the set-up and use of specific test equipment, certify production personnel in testing
    • Determine test equipment needs to meet new product test requirements
    • Develop new test methods and equipment to reduce testing times and increase accuracy
    • Write Work Instructions on how to perform specific tests, update older Instructions for clarity and improvement
    • Work on writing and editing test programs used to control Automated Test systems
    • Assist in the development of new tests using National Instruments Labview
    • Assist Test Engineer in the design, build; maintain all test fixtures needed for testing product in Marshall, MN and all subcontractor’s facilities
  • Responsible for assisting Quality Department in determining product acceptability
    • Assist personnel with the determination of non-conforming product during inspection, provide training if necessary
    • Write instructions, when necessary, for proper inspection for electrical and mechanical requirements
    • Assist with audits of production quality
  • Responsible for conducting Military/Aerospace product qualification testing, reviewing specific requirements on drawings or purchase orders
    • Perform qualification testing on military products, document results and generate report to submit to customer for review and approval
    • Review new customer drawings for applicable military test requirements and provide information to Engineering Coordinator
    • Review customer purchase orders for specific quality codes and inform production of any special test or data requirements
  • Must follow all policies of BH Electronics, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Elements Required

  • Ability to move up to 40 pounds (moving test equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to distinguish between basic colors (no color blindness)
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction or magnification (for inspecting parts)
  • Ability to move from work station to other areas of the plant as needed
  • Ability to grasp and hold tools, materials, and parts with either hand
  • Regular and timely attendance is required

Mental Elements Required

  • Ability to write, read, and understand English language
  • Ability to solve math problems and utilize Algebra as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written & verbal).
  • Ability to handle workplace stress (i.e. deadline pressures, working with public, etc.)
  • Ability to work safely at all times

Special Skills Required

  • Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel

Equipment Used

  • Various Electronic Test Equipment (LCR meters, network analyzers, Hipot testers, multi-functional meters)

Job Qualifications & Characteristics

Education: Associate’s Degree in Electronics
Experience: Experience in electronics test or similar experiences to the above duties is desired
Personal: Willing to learn electronic concepts and technical information. Good oral, written and organizational skills. Ability to achieve results with little or no supervision and willing to work in a team environment
