About BH Electronics

Company Profile
We are a medium size manufacturer of transformers, inductors, filters and related assemblies. Our headquarters facility is located in Burnsville, MN and our engineering/manufacturing facility is in Marshall, MN. We also manufacture products in Mexico and China. BH customers are located in North America, Europe and Asia.
 
Our product focus is on high frequency devices, within the range of 20KHz to 1GHz. When needed, we can supply low frequency products for those customers who want one source for their magnetic needs.
 
BH management and employees are committed to the team concept of total quality. Our U.S. manufacturing workforce, in Marshall, Minnesota, is organized into about 10 production teams. This is also an ISO 9001:2000 certified facility. Traditional quality assurance methods are supplemented by statistical analysis and a formal system of tracking process quality trends. A formal system of defect analysis and corrective action is in use. All employees are dedicated to the concept of continuous improvement.
 

 		 BH Electronics offers comprehensive engineering design support. Our design engineers have extensive experience in magnetics design. They are supported by a complete prototype/sample laboratory and a pilot manufacturing team where new designs can be production tested before they are released. Sample shipments include drawings and test reports. Engineering works closely with manufacturing operations and is also the primary technical contact point for our customers.
 
Sales, marketing, accounting and administration functions are located at the corporate headquarters in Burnsville, MN (a Minneapolis suburb). The headquarters and factory are connected through a wide area network. This configuration supports a complete MRP system with interactive order entry and planning, automatic "buy advice" generation and paperless purchasing. All engineering drawings, part routings and bill of material records are also maintained in this system through networking to the engineering CAD system.

History
BH Electronics was started in 1967 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin as a manufacturer of transformers and small specialty magnetics. The name was taken from the "BH curve" that plots Gauss vs. Oerstads to describe the hysteresis loop common to magnetic design. In 1970 BH Electronics was purchased by Buckbee-Mears Company (now BMC Industries). In the mid 1970's BH entered the video depth sounders market for the sport fishing industry.
 		 However, the primary focus of the company remained with the magnetics product line and the depth sounder products have been discontinued.
 
In 1985 the BH Magnetics Division was purchased from BMC by two key managers. They owned and managed the business until it was sold to present management, in 1993.

Manufacturing Capability
BH Electronics is a vertically integrated manufacturer with in house facilities for injection, compression and insert molding, tool making, core grinding, paralyene coating, and most types of standard testing including network analysis. We also have automated or semi-automated processes for coil winding, pin insertion, functional testing, and soldering operations. The company owns a manufacturing facility in Marshall, Minnesota, a 15,000 square foot concrete block structure located in the Marshall Industrial Park. The Burnsville corporate office is housed in 3300 square feet in the Nicollet Business Campus. BH also manufactures product in two contract facilities in Mexico and one in China. All facilities use BH supplied or approved equipment, raw material and technical support.
